This half term discover the science behind sound with our fun and interactive family science shows!
On Wednesday 30th October, join ScienceMadeSimple and uncover the mysteries of what sound is, how you hear it, and how you turn it into music.
We’ll show you all sorts of unusual ways to make sound and music, including the ultimate ‘hands-free’ instrument and one you can play with a blowtorch!
Shows are at, 11am, 12.15pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm
As well as our Science Shows by Science made simple, we also have a variety of science activities in our Diving Deep exhibition by 'STEMAZING'. These include learning about spooky sounds, invisible forces and even curious chemistry.
10.30-1130 - Spooky Sounds! Can you make weird and wonderful sounds using household items and learn about the science of sound. Hands on activity for all ages
1145- 1245 - Invisible forces - come and see if you can topple a tower using the invisible force from a travelling sound wave - hands-on activity for all ages. Return as many times as you like to try to beat your score!
1.15-2.15 - Curious chemistry - observe sounds you make from safe fizzing chemical reactions - all ages with supervision.
2.30-.30 - Secret Sounds - make a string telephone using simple resources to send secret messages to your friends and family! all ages - take what you create home.
You will need a valid museum ticket to enjoy this exciting event.
