On Monday 9 December the National Museum of the Royal Navy became aware that we have been the victim of a ransomware cyber attack.
Statement 11.12.2024
Our Museum sites remain open but this incident is having significant impact on the delivery of services across the Museum, and we apologise for any inconvenience this is causing to our customers and partners.
We are working urgently with our partners including our IT provider, law enforcement, the Royal Navy and the National Cyber Security Centre to fully understand the origin and impact of the attack and manage its effects.
These issues can take time to resolve, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
Statement 23.12.2024
Following the ransomware cyber attack on the National Museum of the Royal Navy on 9 December 2024, we want to provide a brief update on the situation.
We continue to work closely with our partners; including our IT provider, law enforcement, the Royal Navy and the National Cyber Security Centre, to fully understand the origin and impact of the attack and to manage its effects.
We are pleased to say that all National Museum of the Royal Navy sites are open and we have managed to restore our online ticketing systems, ensuring you are now able to buy tickets online for all sites over the festive period.
However our other systems and services in remain severely affected. Our sites in Hartlepool and Belfast are still only able to accept cash for in-person purchases.
Our team are working incredibly hard behind the scenes and we very much appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the issues.
